Some family with loud kids has to sit next to us? Ok so the other day we were traveling and went to eat at this nice resturant. The patio was croweded but inside was not. So we chose a seat in the corner that was obviously away from everyone else and this couple with this loud 6 year old brat came and sat right next to us. HELLO!!!!! Who does that? It was soooo obvious that we wanted some privacy.

And for you people who say "dont go places where kids might be present" ....This was a nice resturant that had in its title "BAR and grill" not "ponderosa family steakhouse"

i would have complained to the server.. or otherwise said (loud enough for the parents to hear)
"oh i didnt know we were at playland"
that usually shuts the little brats up :-)

Hmm... You know I ran in to some inconsiderate people just like you. Yes, I have to agree that people need to control their children. An older couple came into a restaurant tonight while my family and I were eating and when they were about to be seated in a booth in front of us they asked for another table. My children are older but I heard the wife say that she did not want to sit by the kids. I am not sure if it was because of the kids or their race. What is this world coming to? If you don’t like kids don't visit places where kids may be presents. What's going to happen when you have kids of your own?

Dang. That's gotta suck. ._.
Hmmm. Well, I guess it's what the hostess person decides to put the family. You could've asked to be moved or politely ask the kid to be a little quieter [or tell the parents]. Other than that I don't know what to tell you. Sorry! X]
P.S. Sometimes the parents might get offended when you ask them to tell their kid to be quiet. -_- So I don't think that might be the best thing.

Privacy is rarely obtainable in a public restaurant. Chill out. If you want privacy...go to a known private place...like your kitchen at home.
I don't like screaming kids in restaurants either, however, I also don't expect privacy in one.

When you have kids you will totally understand. Sometimes it's hard, so hard for families to go out with unruly kids. Next time just ask to be moved.

Although it's not guarantee, I would just give them a withering glance next time....like their kid is so much garbage under your feet. And/or make it a point to loudly ask the waiter to move you to a "quieter" area.

the only thing you can do is ask the waiter/waitress if you can change seats, or let them know when you walk in, before you sit down, that you would love a private, romantic spot away, if at all possible

It is called Public. Where is the privacy in that...? - BUT I get what you're saying. What idiots. Most people are really inconsiderate.

You can always get seated at another table. Don't be afraid to make instant decision to change your situation.

Yeah, that drives me crazy... it is just like they are somehow magnetically attracted to you and nothing will stop them from sitting next to you where you have to listen to them through your whole dinner...
