I had the same problem with stray cats on my vehicle it is only just over a year old, that I bought brand new. Cats also have an oil on their paws that will damage the paint.
I called the local animal shelter. (call your local animal shelter and/or your local SPCA) They can come out an set a live trap and catch the cats.
In most states it is illegal to let cats roam free just the same as dogs!
You may try talking to your neighbor first.

Cats hate water. Have some fun (since you hate cats anyway) and keep your hose ready to squirt them anytime they come into your yard. Eventually they will get the point and it will not harm them so you will not be reported to the ASPCA.
Get a life, they won't hurt your car. You just don't like animals. Even though you may be annoyed, your car will get scratches anyway in parking lots or other places. Foot prints don't damage your car, I have had cats walking on my cars for years! Spending money on this is your choice and nobody is forcing you to do so.
I agree with gizathecat. Try being friends to these cats and perhaps you won't care as much.
Have you considered therapy? You sound very unhappy with everything. Maybe counseling would help you deal with your life.

Wow, you are incredibly angry about the cats! We have several cats in our neighborhood, so many so that most of them I couldn't begin to tell you who their owner is. This has been true with every neighborhood I've ever lived in. I'll bet you don't have mice/rodent problems with the cats around. Cats even catch insects. Maybe you should try looking at some of the possitives to help balance out your negative anger. I've never noticed cat prints to be that much of a problem on my car, certainly nothing compared to bird poop. At leat paw prints wash right off. I've also never had a scratch from cat feet. However, if you really are that angry about something so silly, cayenne pepper is incredibly cheap. I'm sure your neighbor will pay for it just to ease your anger...if you approach them right.

Preach on!!
Why can't people keep their pets in their yards? So annoying! Especially the pooping everywhere and fighting at all hours of the night.
Feed stores and hardware stores carry sprinklers with motion detectors. They squirt what ever moves. It is a little extreme, and you will have water spots to deal with, but if the pepper and repelent don't work, maybe this will.
Good Luck.

It's only a CAR! Chill. There are more important things to declare war on. Why don't you befriend your neighbor's cats instead of hating them. Many disabled people enjoy having companion animals including cats and many have service dogs as well.
I'm so sick and tired of cat haters venting their venom like you are doing here.
Cats are a joy. Give them a chance and you'll learn to love them and you'll be a happier person.

If your neighbour is not a nice person that you can talk with about this, then call the non-emergency phone number of your local police department, and ask them to talk to your neighbour about the cat problem. Most likely they will give your neighbour a stern warning about the problem. You have every right to peacefully enjoy your property without temporarily stray cats coming over and messing up your car.

I live in a country setting and my neighbors have over 100 outdoor cats. You can imagin what my new truck looks like. The moral of this story the only thing I know that works is to live with it.

I have a friend that has a neighbor cat who LIVED on the top of her car. She put vinegar in a spray bottle and sprayed all around her carport and all around her car. As far as I know, it kept the cat away.

I wonder if the best thing you can do is take the hose out and hose down the cats when you catch them on their. If they get hosed down enough times they'll figure it out for themselves. Or do like I do...rinse off the car each evening...cats don't generally like to get on top of a wet car.

My God lady, I can think of worse things to complain about. Why don't you try being nice to the little ankle biters, it might make you feel better. And if it doesn't, for pete's sake, get a water bottle, and squirt the little innocent fluffy kitties away from your car. One or two times, they'll get the hint.
My God,,,,,, some people. I swear!!!
