You'll heal. It's hard, if you really love your pet, to lose them. I'm 53 and I've had many cats and dogs, horses too. I still cry when I think about this one, or that one dying. Yet, the pain of losing them doesn't outweigh the joy they give while they're here.
One suggestion. If you get another cat, wait until you can keep it inside. It's a dangerous world for cats left outside. Cars, dogs, other cats, feral cats, and other animals, and sick people.

You have to make a conclusion to his wherabouts. Probably someone stole him, There are people like that. They don't want to pay for a cat at a store or something.
If you make a conclusion, your healing will begin. If you make a picture in your mind that he is ok, you can start the process of healing. Make a picture frame and put his picture in it and put a date on it, from the day that you found it until the day he was gone, like 2-5-04 to 12-25-05.... That will help you conclude his time with you. All the while you should start looking for another cat that will make you feel better and just talk to the new cat about Kat and you will begin to heal in a matter of days.

The price of love is loss...Nobody lasts forever, and the grief is real. But don't forget the good times. For the loss to hurt this much, there must have been a lot of joy. I have had a lot of pets, the one I had longest I had for 20 years. It is sad when a beloved pet is lost, but the good memories remain. It helps me to have some kind of memorial, such as a picture or a figurine. Don't avoid thinking about him, but think about the good times. Getting another pet can help if you want to; I realize it probably can't be another cat. There is no love without loss, but the love is worth it. And look around you for other animals that you can enjoy.

i can totally relate to the way you feel. i recently lost my kitten. it passed away. for weeks i was so upset. i miss her too much. i say there's nothing that time cant heal. you'll be alrite baby. just give it time,. if you like you can always go & adopt a kitten. theres tons of cats that need a home. thats what i did. and if you arent able to, try to focus on the good times you had with it. i know that makes your sadness even worst but sometimes it helps. cry all you want let it all out. & i promise you you'll be fine..

I am so sorry for your loss. My cat, Ripley, died two years ago. I still miss her but the memories I have of her bring smiles to my face now, not tears. I had her for 16 years and she died in her sleep. I will always remember the date, June 30. Sometimes I forget and call my other cat by her name. It does get better over time.

First of all, was he neutered? Tom cats tend to wander. Many years ago, we didnt neuter male cats because they didnt have kittens. I lost alot of male cats in just the way you described. You need to be prepared for the chance that he may not come back.
If you get another cat:1) make sure he is neutered. 2) consider keeping him in the house.

i am really sorry that your cat he ran away. i call all of my kitties my babies 2. I would die if somthing happened to them, so i can only imagine how you feel. if somthing ever happened to one of my babies, i would probably feel sad for a while, and eventually i would move on. I am sure you will feel better after a while. i am sure Kat would have wanted you to get back to your life.
