Yeah. Most Christians think that the Gospels were actually written by members of Jesus' posse, after the crucifixion. LOL.

Mark was the first gospel, written some time after 70 AD... probably closer to the beginning of the 2nd century. Matthew and Luke were written using Mark as a template, filling in additional made-up details, and 'sayings' lifted out of a list of sayings known as the 'Q-document', and put into the mouth of Jesus. Those sayings were basically elements of Greek 'Stoic' and 'Cynic' philosophies. Although the writers of Matthew and Luke were using the same source material, they were apparently unaware of each other. That's why the made-up portions that they added to flesh-out Mark are discrepant, and while they gave Jesus a lot of the same sayings, they attributed them to different circumstances. And the gospel of John is so inconsistent with the other three (the Synopyic gospels) that it might as well have been written by someone from another planet.

There is no MENTION of anything resembling a gospel until around 120 AD, and no mention of more than one until around 150 AD. The first solid evidence for the gospels as we know them today dates from 180 AD... hardly the first-hand accounts of witnesses.

The really funny thing is that if you add up all Jesus' time accounted for (not counting the 40 days in the wilderness) it adds up to just about 3 WEEKS. LOL.

Then there's the epistles. Ignoring the fact that the later Pauline Epistles were forgeries, the early ones give no indication of any awareness on Paul's part of Jesus being an actual person in the recent past. When we read the epistles, we make connections to a historical Jesus because we are aware of the story from the gospels, But if we read the epistles without our 'gospel goggles' on, it is clear that Paul's concept of Jesus christ was entirely of a spiritual entity... not a human one.

Fabricted?

There are at least half a dozen theories that claim they were fabricated. The only common feature they have, is that the Gospels were written between the second and fourth century.

P-52, which dates to 65 CE pretty much throws out the timeline of when the various documents were written, for the theories that claim they were fabricated. [This isn't the only one that discredits that theory, but it is the most embarresing one, because this is from the Gospel that most fabriction theories require to be written last.]

####

Since somebody asked for proof that they were not fabrications.

There is nothing in the archeological record that indicates the history recounted in the Gospels is inaccurate.

Do you need proof that Jesus lived, and was cricified?
Hiostile Witness # 1: Rabbinical Judaism --- which admits that it illegally killed Jesus:

That Jesus was the Messiah prophecied in the Bible?
Hostile Witness # 1: Rabbinical Judaism --- which came to the conclusion in the fourth century, that he was not the Messiah, because he did not create a Physical Kingdom. However, the requirement of a Physical Kingdom is from the Talmud, not the Tanakh.

My question is: What is the proof that the Gospels are fabrictions?

The textual evidence indicates that the last book of the New Testament to be written was Revelation, and that it was written prior to 65 CE.

Paul wrote most of the Epistles before the Gospels were written. Even so, there is an oblique allusion to at least one Gospel being in circulation, in his Epistle.

The Q Hypothesis has been demonstrated to be false. So any claim that the Gospels are fabricted, that uses that as support, is based upon false data.

Why do you care? If they are not real, why not ignore it and live your life in the secure knowledge that you know the truth? If I believe in something that teaches me to love (which I do my best to do) and give to the poor (which I do my best to do), what it that to you?

I could cite all the legal and historical evidence for the gospels (and I can), but what good would that do? Would it really matter to you that fragments from Matthew have been found from 55 AD or that each of the disciples died violent deaths or suffered persecution rather than deny them? Men will very rarely die for something that they know to be untrue. Yet they did. To a man. If I cite a thousand things like this, would that be enough?

I am curious. What harm does my faith in the gospels (have you read them) do you? I criticize those who condemn Fahrenheit 451 without reading it. Have you read the books you critique?

the gospels were written by men. they add to any writting to make it sound better. the churches have controled the scrolls that were written. most of the actual context was left out and put in as the churches deemed fit. even the bible states that god will condeme for eternity any that change the bible. the church changed and controled what was put in. there are many volumes out now that show what the scrolls actually said. recently there was another prohet scroll found that was never in the bible. the church claims there is to much graphic detail and evil written about. why isn't it all in the bible?

HOW> could the Gospels be made up and accpeted when there were many EYE_WITNESSES at the time to refute lies. It is like me saying now that bill gates died and was ressurrected...no one would believe me and my story would NEVER get off!! same thing applies to the gospels...many witnesses in Judea confirmed the Gospels.

You guys have come out in droves tonight!

Fallacy of assumption.

You can't even BEGIN a good discussion with such shallow and thoughtless questions.

Do too many people already know that you sleep with the light on, a teddy bear, sucking your thumb? It must be true since I just said so.

Hell yeah, I was just reading, like, Bultmann and Jeremias, and they are DOWN with that ****! You know, I find the ones who are most likely to realize the TRUTH are the Biblical scholars who speak twelve ancient languages. Yeah, read THEIR stuff and you'll find out for sure that they were all "fabricated." Read some of that **** and you'll REALLY be able to be a BMOC here at Yahoo Answers, and we'll all be really ****** impressed.

Apparently, you've been reading too many DaVinci deception books, mudcat.

Better learn history, pal, and quit letting your simple mind be deceived by dumb people like Dan Brown who try to re-write history in order to take advantage of your ignorance.
