why is it when people see gray hair,they think you are old and ready for the old folks home.we have people here say wow you are gray,just like you got something they dont want to catch from you.

because society makes us think that if you have gray hair that automatically means youre old... and when youre old, its not attractive or appealing anymore.... society has pumped up ageism so much that no one respects their elders anymore as they once had

because ppl are engulfed into artificial looks and they do not know that beauty is not perfect hair or looks.
I know what you say though, I have gray hair and do color it because It does make me feel though older. And I do look older if I let it gray. So I prefer to color it and still look and feel young.
I would guess it s a personal preference, but people do tend to not want gray hair.
People's priorities are set up wrong today. They d o not have the same values anymore and they think success is all about looking perfect ly beautiful and hving a shocking head of hair full of color and what not.
Though remember that also young people tend to be the judgementals on this "old or young age" judgment. If one is past their 20's one is old and that simply is not true.
If you have gray hair and dont want to cover it up do not! Everybody else can go take a dive about why you didnt color yr hair. ITS YR HAIR AND LIFE.

They say things like that because gray hair is a sign of old age and most people try to hide their age by using makeup or hair dye and it is very uncommon to see gray hair so right there they expect you to be old,so they probably think your older and your makeup or hair dye is wearing off.

Because to many people look at gray and stay away! Its fun getting old...LOL
Some times it's not always getting old that gray comes out..Stress is a big factor! The less stressed you are the longer your hair will stay its natural color!

Who cares if your hair is grey or not. Its the way you feel, that makes you who you are. Not the colour of your hair. Society is really stupid. They think because you have grey hair, that you should act like the elderly that are in their 80s. My mum was 67 and still had dark brown hair and people asked her, did she colour her hair and the answer was, No. They just assumed she was grey. Stupid huh. Im lucky enough to be like my mum and still have dark hair. Most of my friend have grey hair and I don't give a hoot. Its the person I like, not the hair.

I love the silver grey hair...but the texture is very wiry compared to my regular hair. I've got a friend who turned all silver before his 20th b-day. I think it has more to do with stress and diet than with your preferences. More stress, more grey.

dunno i don't really care if ppl are grey..when their hair is snow white I'll b like wooow especially if they're young..like the american Idol guy-- first time I saw him..I was like.. wow he looks so young and he has grey hair
