With call forwarding, you pre-program a number that you'd like your incoming calls to go to, and whenever someone dials your number, the phone will ring at the forwarding number.

With call transfer, your phone will ring at your regular number but you will be able to transfer--or connect--the call to a different number.

Call forwarding takes place beforehand and is planned. Call transfer takes place on the spot.

Make sense?

in the call forwarding, the incoming call are forwarded to your mentioned number. But in the case of the call transfer, a program is being set and if you recieve the call then you can transfer the call to any any person using the LAN.

Call forward will always redirect the call to second number (either immediately, when busy or after "x" amount of rings) but the call is never answered at the first number.

Call transfer you would have to answer the call at the first number, then redirect the person to a second number.
