Sometimes insects will crawl into people's ears because it's nice and warm. I've seen ants and cockroaches in peoples ears, but not earwigs (although I agree that they are creepy looking things).

If it ever happens, the best thing to do is to shine a bright flashlight into the ear to attract them to it. If you try to remove it, it might dig into the skin which could cause infection -- better to go to the doctor or Emergency Room and have someone with some experience take care of it - plus they'll be able to give you antibiotics to prevent infection.

Don't lose sleep over them. Just clean, spray an insecticide and clean again. Unfortunately, they're a lot like roaches.

No. But that's what I used to tell my sister when we were little (I'm older) to freak her out. But no, they don't go in your ears.

No, they don't. As a matter of fact, they're relatively harmless in every way, they're just kinda' creepy and ugly.
