Adult dogs should be fed twice a day - (puppies and thin senior dogs - three times)
THe amount you feed depends on the quality of food - lower quality food has more filler so you need to feed more - most foods have guide lines on the bags - Iams was actually charged with fraudulently saying you could feed less in an effort to make their food appear better than it was... ANY food from grocrey or Wal Mart is loaded with filler and you will need to feed more - nto all foods sold at pet stores are good either you need to read the label
a food that is good with have CHICKEN MEAL, TURKEY MEAL, or LAMB MEAL as first ingredient- it will NOT contail lots of cheap fillers like byproducts (beaks feet feather) corn or wheat..
the better food you feed - you will feed less and get less poops

My 2 year old cocker spaniel gets 3/4 of a cup twice a day. I also have two pit bulls and they get 1 cup twice a day. My cocker is about 23 lbs and the pits are 65 and 68 lbs.

This is what i found out through talking to my vet and also a dog food "nutritionist". Whatever premium food you get, it should be 26-28% protein. Unless of course you have working dogs that are active pretty much the whole day. (it doesnt really sound that any of your dogs would fit that criteria). Check out Wellness, I think its 26% and I feed it to my GSD puppy. You could possibly even get 2 kinds. Large breed food and regular food (for your yorkie and cocker spaniel). like you I tried researching some other foods before I settled on Wellness. I found that Innova, Orijen and TOTW are a little too high on protein. I've tried Blue Buffalo before with my puppy and he did ok on it, but Wellness had slightly better ingredients, so we switched.

I have had dogs all my life and I always believed in leaving them a full bowl all the time and let them eat as they pleased. On the other hand some dogs will over eat. If they tend to be over eaters then read the back of the dog food bag and it will tell you how many cups per pound of dog. Feed them twice a day.

I leave an open bowl or feeder for my dogs all day long so they never feel the need they have to eat something or they won't eat again for hours. I have seen too many dogs who gorge themselves because they don't have a continuous opportunity to eat all day and night. I feed my boys some soft food once a day, like half a can or so, every morning to keep them spoiled and feeling like they have a different thing daily. I do not recommend feeding only once or twice a day ergo, I don't really have an answer for you beyond what I have given you already. Good luck!! DOGS RULE!!

Weigh you dogs and check the package of dog food that you are feeding them. There should be a table showing how much food to feed them on the package. I like to feed my dogs in the morning and in the evening before their morning walk and evening walk. So I give them half their daily food at each meal. They each have a separate bowl and I watch over them to be sure there is no cheating because the little dog gets much less food than the big one.

The bags of food usually offer good guidelines, depending on the dogs' ages. Our two dogs are one year old (a boxer and sheperd mix) and we feed them twice a day - one cup each dry food with a few tablespoons of wet food mixed in for interest.

pick a brand of food that is beneficial to your dogs. I was told a lamb and rice was good for a labs coat, the product i use recommends 2 cups a day. you can split it into two meals or one.tip: the more fillers a product has the more food they need and the more they poop. Good luck

One cup per 20 lbs. I feed mine once a day (over 2 yrs old). Now, how you keep the food separate for the two of yours is beyond me.
