This morning I went to a Pentacostal church a friend had told me about. I was brought up in the Church of Christ, known for boring church services. Anyway, this congregation as the service went on got the "spirit" in them and they started dancing around pounding their feet on the floor, runninn around the sanctuary. It looked like some of them were having siezures. I have never experienced anything like it. I wonder if anybody reading this has ever had the spirit take hold of them like that. I think it must feel so exillerating, and make you feel so free. I'd love to have that experience.

first, dont force it to happen, that would be fake, and thats bad.
deep prayer gets answers, and just open your door to jesus 100 percent, gods spirit comes upon us all in different ways, holy spirit is truth of word. get annointed by the preacher, sometimes you feel weak and go to the ground, some cry, laugh, dance, shout, speak in toungues, etc, etc. then wait !! maybe the 1st time, maybe the 10th, but at some point, GOD lets you know that its for real,........I....saw a dove, with my eyes shut!!!! that was real !!!!! only lasted about 30 seconds, cause it exited me and I opened my eyes. make sure who ever is teaching you , preaches from the bible....God bless you, and pray to recieve your gift.

Unfortunatly much of what you witnessed is self induced hystaria... But a true Spirit experience can be that overwhelming... it has not happened to me that dramaticaly But on a couple of ocasions I have had it made clear to me that The Holy Spirit was working in me... I have been to such services as you describe and even more so... some are truly "in The Spirit" I have no doubt... but others... well... I try not to be harsh I say let them go if they feel it...

I did, in a much less energetic congrigation once have prayer made for me fro healing and was anointed with oil... when the anointing touch was made I found myself on the floor...Now mind you.. I am a Stuck-to-the-pew Baptist... not the least Pentacostal...But I for sure felt my body give way to The Spirit and I was down. When I got up a pain I had suffered for many years was Gone... and it has not returned in over a year... I got to say The Spirit experience can in deed be real....

I walk in the spirit daily, with evidence of speaking in tongues, healing and other things. Every day is a battle between our flesh and our Spirit. When we get to the point where we buffer our flesh, then the Spirit can opperate freely. Letting the Spirit praise God through dancing is Biblical. There may be some that fake it, but when the Spirit is really opperating, you will know. It is truely an unique and wonderful experiance.

I've been to pentecostal churches...and no i've never had the spirit get a hold of me to that extreme. I've see it happen at the church I go to, with people falling on the floor and screaming and wallowing on the floor and the dancing, and running around the church. Sometimes it's scary. But I enjoy going to the pentecostal church....

I was raised in a church of God church for 16 years and watched that happening all around me, but never had it happen to me. I think maybe because I didnt truly know the Lord then. Now the church I attend is baptist, they dont do all that. but i'm with you. I would love to get so filled up that I had to run around and jump. It makes me smile just thinking about it. Jesus loves you.

We need to walk the Christian life by faith not by feelings. These psychic experiences may be very impressive but will lead you astray. The Bible says that the Spirit of God is a spirit of self control. If a spirit comes on you and you lose self control you can be sure it is not the spirit of God. Please walk by what the Bible says and don't get into these things that will keep you from knowing Christ. Jesus said, "Many will say to me in that day did we not prophes in your name and in your name cast out demons and in your name perform miracles, and then I will reply to them, Depart from Me ye cursed, I never knew you."

Nah, I think they're just drugging people. There's no such thing as a god and, even if there was, I'm sure he'd have better things to do than make us have seizures. Hey up there!! How about being a good overlord god and ending some of the wars we have going on down here?! Lazy-a$$....

Oh, yeah. And lo, he went forth wailing and gnashing his teeth, for thou knowest thou dost not take hold of a United States Marine and not suffer profoundly painful consequences! Semper Fi, suckah!

No, you do not "need that experience", it does not free you nor ensure your entry into a state of grace. All it does is make you look foolish. Oh - and the bit about the fool grabbing a Marine - it's true.

I have had it before. You do feel so free and you know that God loves you so much and you feel so close to him. It doesn't matter what other think at that moment. It feels really special.
