ok i see that , but why not keep the two hidge idea .. so i can lay flat on both sides on a chair that dosent cost 110.00$

The plastic, while soft and comfortable at first, easily dries out and breaks down under the sun, wearing out and becoming quite uncomfortable. Now making harder lawn chairs out of recycled plastic that lasts longer is much cheaper.

Don't forget people being fatter than ever, so it requires more aluminum and stronger weave to make sure they don't break, thus making it less practical then the newer models.
