Most the time I feel nothing. Is this normal? I feel extreme emotions like grief or extreme happiness but that is about it. Any ideas on how to improve this. Is there something wrong with me?

I am 23 but I was sexually abused when I was 8. I don't think its connected to that but who knows.

I'm the same way. For me, I found out it was Borderline Personality Disorder which can include emotional extremes or mood swings that are not long lasting (few hours to a few days) and can stem from abuse. Other possible symptoms are :

fears of abandonment
extreme mood swings
difficulty in relationships
unstable self-image
difficulty managing emotions or feeling lack of emotions
impulsive behavior
self-injuring acts
suicidal ideation
may have been abused
feeling of being unconnected to reality at times

.....You may not have any of these other symptoms. Your personal issue could be a number of things but I only know about BPD. Whatever it may be, If it's affecting your relationships or even just making you unhappy, go seek a counselor or psychologist.

It's not normal to feel nothing. It is likely that something is wrong. Some medicines, some mental disorders and longterm depression can cause this, and in many cases it can be cured or gets back to normal with time.

I'm like this too and in my case it's a part of schizoid personality disorder and the result of a longterm depression. I don't feel feelings much in the past few years, it's almost like I died inside.

It is very well possible that it's connected with the abuse. Have you had any more mental issues? Maybe it would be a good idea to talk to a professional, there may be ways to cure this. It's worth a try. Good luck!

One question. Have you gotten any counseling for what happened when you were 8 or talked to anybody about it and how it has affected you? A good place to start if you have not dealt with it yet is a book called the Courage to Heal or a hot-line for people who have been abused. You can find them on the web. Check it out. In my opinion, yes, it does have something to do with your the lack of ability to feel because you may not have dealt with all of the un fun emotions that come along with being abused in any way.

My Gemini terrific chum has a Gemini Moon and Mercury and that i will actually see him detach. he will basically emotionally fly away precise in the previous my eyes. that's extraordinary. It does no longer propose that he's not listening or that he won't convey some thing at a later factor (frequently he does not communicate approximately it yet you would be conscious that he has made an adjustment in accordance with what you reported to him). He does not get flustered, irrational, retaliatory (nicely except you incorporate rapid witted responses) or teach a lot of a reaction ---possibly a shocked or unhappy face and that's a rarity additionally. he's super feeling nonetheless. basically via fact he does not react does no longer propose that he does not care or that he did no longer pay attention you. My Aquarius co-worker is super indifferent additionally. i will nevertheless see how plenty they care nonetheless. you do no longer could convey each emotion in the worldwide to care or to have thoughts. I choose their excess of people who emote too plenty. must be via fact I certainly have a Gemini transforming into or perhaps via fact I certainly have a Scorpio Venus and Mars and choose the soundness of a non-emotional seeming individual, idk :)

It's possible that you just don't feel strongly about anything around you at present. Put yourself into unusual situations and look for new and interesting people, outlets and hobbies. Perhaps you will find something/someone you care about enough to develop attachement to.

It is also possible that you have a mood disorder (based on your description, bipolar disorder comes to mind as one such example). If the suggestions above don't work, consider seeing a therapist/psychologist/psychiatrist and describe your feelings to them; if you are suffering from a mood disorder, they will be able to quickly identify it and explain what is happening.

Sounds like you have a touch of Bipolar Disorder, I'd suggest you get that checked out. Until then just take each day as it goes, I would also recommend that you make a journal of what you are feeling and how you acted each day, that way your doctor can see both side of your emotions.

Good luck!

Detaching emotionally from life is one of the ways we try to heal. I have done it for years. It is only a temporary fix. Old issues have a way of creeping back into our lives when we least expect it.
