I paid nothing. I had insurance that covered 80%and medicaid covered the rest. The way I see it, my fiance's paid into welfare for 11 years so we should be entitled to some of it back.

My pregnancy costs were $8956, but that included an epidural which is well over a $1000. If you don't have insurance and cannot afford to cover the medical costs you should apply for medical aid. Then you don't have to deal with the stress of paying the bills while you are pregnant and it will help cover the cost of the baby after they are born. Newborns can get very expensive--even without the medical bills.

Get a free ride if you can....With my first baby, we had state insurance but used it only on my labor and delivery which cost about $3500 (normal vaginal delivery with epidural). We paid each doctor visit which was covered through another plan. That was about $80-$150 not including tests and the like. With my recent pregnancy and delivery, we had regular health insurance through my hubbys work. I ended up having complications and so far...(9 mths after the birth) we have paid over $9000 towards everything, and still climbing. Take a handout, you never know what could happen before, during and after your pregnancy. Good Luck.

I had no insurance and no Medicaid or anything when I had my baby. I think the costs came close to about $2500.00 (12 years ago), not including pre and post natal appts. The hospital did provide a slight discount because there was no insurance. The delivery was natural with no complications.

The medical cost of a pregnancy depends VERY MUCH on the individual woman and her pregnancy. It can cost very very little (midwife care and an easy carrying and birth), or a WHOLE LOT if there are complications - thousands and thousands.

Well...I had an emergency c-section and was ambulanced to the hospital. My daughter was born six weeks early and spent 8 days in the NICU. Overall, it was $42,000 of which my husband and I had to pay 20%, so roughly $8,400. We are still making payments as the Intensive Care stay was certainly not planned!

I am in the same situation right now. I am not sure how much it is going to cost but I am also trying to get on medicaid. There is nothing wrong with getting him if you need it.
