When a dog licks you it is only saying that it likes you. Why would you murder that dog for that? Now if the dog has excessive licking or licking your face too much then that is a problem.

Excessive licking of people and other dogs can be the sign of a mental disorder, or insecurity issues. Dogs are pack animals, and easily get insecure if the feel lonely or don't know their position in the pack. Scolding a dog like this may just reinforce the behavior. I suggest you consult an animal vet.

Licking of the face, isn't just a desire to be friendly, it is a response based on a puppies behavior. When a wolf pup is young the mothers feed them when they regurgitate part of what they have eaten. The pups start this process by licking the female dog’s face. Now your dog is probably not hungry, but they are behaving like a puppy. Most modern dogs do that. When we spay and neuter them, and keep them as pets they don’t need to grow up so they keep a lot of puppy behavior. Use the dog’s pack instinct to control them. Play with the dog until they start licking your face, then push them away and don’t play with them. After a while let them return and start to play with them again. When they start licking too much drive them away. You are rewarding the good behavior and punishing the bad behavior. For a dog this is minor punishment. If they misbehave in a pack they get attacked and bitten by the pack leader, or the dog above them in the pack order. Nothing gets a dog more worried then when they don’t know their position in the pack. So make it clear that you are boss, and that they are at the bottom of the pack. The dog is still acting like a puppy so they will accept this behavior, and it won’t hurt their feelings.

There are other behaviors that you need to use with your dog to reinforce proper behavior. When you eat, make sure the dog eats last. Don’t serve them from the dinner table. You can feed them dinner scraps, but wait until after you have eaten. In a pack the dogs eat in their pack order. The top dog eats first. The top dog won’t eat more than he is supposed to; he knows that he has a pack to run. But, he eats first to show that he is top dog. You need to be top dog in your pack. If you don’t then the dog takes over, it is what they are used to, and is breed into their genes.

So if a dog is licking too much or doing something else that you don’t like then be firm about it. Tell them no, and mean it. Find a favorite toy and play with them if they are good. Then stop playing with them if they are bad. The same thing goes for jumping up and down on guests, or peeing in the house. Use pack psychologically on the dog, think about the dog on the dog’s level in a manner that they are used to thinking. Don’t hurt the dog, but if you push it away, or if you have to lock it in a room for an hour, that doesn’t hurt. It tells them what is wrong. Teach the dog the word “no” and that will make your life much easier.

No!!!!! Would it be ok to slap you for asking such an unbelievably lame question? You should seek professional help.

If you want it to stop licking you. Grab its tongue with your thumb and forefinger everytime it does. I am not saying to hurt it. Just grab it and hang on for a couple of seconds. The dog will stop after you do this a couple of times. Then all you have to do is wash your hands.

NO...LOOK...ANIMALS HAVE A DIFFERENT WAY OF EXPRESSING THEMSELVES...IF THE DOG LICKED YOU...THAT MEANS IT LIKES YOU...AND CARES ABOUT YOU...it doesn't mean any harm...it just wants to show you affection...in its own way...just like you hug someone...it licks to show affection...it means no harm at all...it has been known that if a person had a cast on and a dog licked it...that the broken bone healed quicker...and that is a very true statement...so please don't kill something that's showing you love...in its own way...ok...

Murder is wrong, so your choice of words is interesting.

If you hate dogs enough to kill one for licking you, why the heck are you around dogs?

And no, this isn't OK. And I have to wonder about you.

Maybe you should consider dropping the dog off at a pound. murder is very extreme and should never be considered in any case. think about it like this you could make a child very happy by donating the dog. think about it.

It is not ok to murder a dog for anything. Are you a sociopath? Do you want to kill people too?

No, but I'd say otherwise if the dog "licked" you in the wrong way.
