I avoid parties, clubs any and all social getherings. I get nervous talking to people who have authority over me. I also get nervous in the stupidiest of situations like cashiers, calling the doctor, etc. My heart races, I shake really bad, and can barely speak. Is this social anxiety. My biological dad DOES have social phobias and was placed in a hospital they got so bad.

Yes, I would say that it is a sign of social anxiety. If it was just avoiding parties, clubs and some social gatherings that you might not know that many people that is one thing. If you have trouble going to parties where you know most of the people and have trouble talking to people that yes that could be a sever social anxiety problem.

By avoiding social situations, it makes the next one harder.

Take baby steps, but inch your way into having more human contact. Dealing with others is a skill, you have to practice in order to be good at it. The more you retreat, the harder it will be later.

I had a problem with authority figures, but got over it by doing volunteer work; they treat volunteers differently. After you are around them a bit, they're not that scary.

It's better to see a doctor before it gets to the point of needing to be hospitalized. Call a psychiatrist and make an appointment. Meds and therapy help tremendously.

Social phobia sounds reasonable. Talk to your MD. He can refer you to a specialist or can probably prescribe you something. It will be soooo much easier to deal with if you address the problem now instead of waiting and having a really bad episode.

For God's sake, get off of the computer and get to a doctor. Sounds like generalized anxiety or panic attacks.

From what you describe I have to say yes. The good news is that this is totally treatable and if treated soon, you can gain control over it and possibly even control it forever. Talk to your dr about what you need to do. Best of luck to you.
