I don't think 14 is to young to start dating. They probably just want you to be careful more than anything. Because at a younger age we make more rash decisions that are made in the heat of the moment, not thinking to what could be the concequences. But thats just me, I wouldn't worry about what your friends and especially what complete strangers say. You should date when you think you are ready to date, not when other people say you are ready to date.

It's not that we're trying to shun you from the adult world or anything. But you're too young, and you're moving way too fast. At that rate, you might end up pregnant at 16--I know, "it's not gonna happen to me," until the condom breaks, and then it's oh, what am I gonnna do? I'm too young to get an abortion without my parents' consent, boo-hoo! Listen to what people are telling you. At fourteen, you do not know everything, and are not ready for serious relationships. I've seen it happen. A friend of mine, about your age got involved with this "19-year-old great guy," she gets pregnant and all of a sudden he's gone. You're a teeny-bopper. Enjoy it while it lasts. I'm not saying you can't date that cute boy that sits in the front of the class...but take these things into consideration. You'll be grateful when you get older.

From an evolutionary standpoint, people are ready to procreate at 14. From the standpoint of the society we've developed, that's way too young to get into a serious relationship. Thus, we have a tension.

You are a human, not an animal, and you are in control of your body.

If you want to maximize your chances of a good life by not screwing yourself up this young (pregnancy, disease, abuse, etc.), and you want pick a mate when you have a mature perspective on world and will be more likely to choose someone you will end up liking, then you will wait.

If you want to risk your future and get yourself emotionally twisted into knots, then you will begin dating now.

It's certainly "normal" to take the second choice, but you may aspire to be more than "normal" in your life. You are right to be asking and thinking about it.

To be honest with you, you are very young and at a promiscous age. Now here's the thing though it's okay to have like a best friend but your most important thing rightnow is think of your education and what you'll like to be when you grow older and believe me time flies if I know that. I didn't think when I was younger and if I could turn back time I would have used my brain more then my heart.

i think no one is mature enough to think about dating until age 16, but even then just in groups or else they'll get too serious too soon.
