The first requirement would be knowing what the position is called. They are Flight Attendants or FAs (they used to be "stewarDesS" back in the days when it was a female-only force). Another requirement would be basic command of English as in writing and speaking correctly. If you haven't got that down yet, stay in school until you've mastered that!

Most airlines have a 20-year-old minimum age for applying to FA school. There are also minimum height and maximum weight requirements. Check out this website for a general FA school which may or may not lead to a real job.

Stay away from the airline schools. These are a total waste of money. In 10 years, I have never met anyone who got the job this way.

If and when you are hired, you are required to complete that particular airlines training course. Mine was 6 weeks, but they vary at smaller carriers.

The legacy (major carriers) all have 21 as the minimum age requirement. They prefer you be bilingual, and have some college on your transcripts. Height requirement is 5 feet 2 inches without shoes, and weight in proportion to height.

You must have the ability to come and go from the US. An extensive 10 year background check and fingerprinting is also done.

The airline industry is very volatile and unpredictable right now, and it isn't the greatest time to be hired on. The legacy carriers almost all have people of furlough status, waiting to be recalled to work, and they have to recall these people before hiring anyone off the street.

The smaller carriers, as well as the low cost carriers hire from time to time, and this is probably a good starting place for you. Their requirements are not as strict, and many hire as young as 18.

It is not an easy job to get, and you only get one chance to present yourself through a written application or resume. That being said, unless you are 10 years old and really planning ahead, work on your english, spelling and grammar.

The best way is to contact the airline that you want to work for. Go to their website and if you need more info then give the airline a call.

Try these. I don't know which will work best, but after reading them all you will have a pretty good idea. Good luck.
