She is acting just as people who get so frightened they pee their pants.
Peeing on the couch seems the safest place for her to "pee her pants" as she is masking her scent with human scent, to keep the boogieman from knowing that she is a lone, frightened helpless female.
Human scent is strongest in chairs, beds, and couches.

I can't think of a remedy for this at her age, but will post back here if I find one.

well being an interior decorator i suggest u move the couch scare the dog he will soon realise its not there

aww...u may want to go to the vet...he might have blatter probs at his old age! if not best thing is to keep in out of living room or cover the sofa with a thick blanket

So quit scaring your stupid dog. Actually, for that size (and type of problem) I would suddenly decide my pooch is "an outdoor dog".

i have a dog that pees every time when exited its best to not get him exited and don't scare him

I would talk to a vet and get that urine gone stuff on TV
