What type of bike should I get?

I haven't owned one forever, but I live by a lake, river and lots of great trails. I always want to go jogging, but its a little freaky/scary on foot so I want to get a bike.

I would use it on a bike path, some dirt trails and some hills.

What is the cost range of bike you are recommending?

Trek is always reliable, but Specalized is usually better for mountain biking. If you are doing more inbetween riding, hybrid bicycles are always good. I ride a trek, no problems, good quality.
