Yup, trees have a lifespan just like people. Just like people, though, it varies somewhat individual to individual.
You wouldn't get 100 years out of a cherry tree. 30 is probably more like it, and maybe 20 of those would be good production. Depends on the variety, too.

It depends on the health and vigor of the tree and the quality of the site. As for cherry trees, in their natural environment they are early successional species. That means when land is cleared they would be one of the first trees to grow (if in the right climate). They grow fairly fast and like direct light. When the light levels change in 30 or so years these trees will begin to die out and be replaced by more slower growing and more shade tolerant trees such as maple or hickory (also depending on climate).

Most fruit trees don't live that long. Most cherry trees only live 30-50 years.

The life of the tree is the expectancy.200 years later as long as it lives it will produce fruit. Most trees have to mature at least 15 years before producing.

not in intensively managed orchards, cause it is not economically sound, but you can see very very old fruit trees, like 50-100years no problem. i simply love the romantics of old abandoned unmanaged orchards that you may find somewhere. I believe the records are olive trees that can be and are several centuries (or more) old - some olive trees are actually protected as monuments and all locals love them, they virtually speak of their age and of the centuries that went past them. one cherry tree in our garden is positively well over 60 and still in pretty good shape, it is huge.
