No out of context crap. THIS is what it says.

It is ok to kill:
"Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt. Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ***." (Samuel 15:2-3).

It is not ok to kill:
"Thou shalt not kill." (Deuteronomy 5:17)

Saying that one is correct and the other isn't means that the Bible is not 100% true like the fundamentalists say it is.

You have found one of the internal self-contradictions in the Bible; there are scores of others, along with hundreds of errors of fact. No, the bible is not 100% true. In fact, it is not wise to use it as an authority on anything unless you can show independent confirmation.

Well, I am Not for smiting anyone. However, I have to point out a very common error. Correctly translated, Deut: 5:17 says 'Thou shalt not murder".

In context, it would seem that the Amalek ambushed the Israelites, thus committing murder. Samuel is advocating major capital punishment.

I am not a fundie, but it you try to reason or argue with them using the old Testament, you will only make yourself crazy and loose the argument. Primarily because of translation foul ups like the above.

Peace.

The translation of the word "kill" in Deuteronomy actually means murder, but even if it did exactly mean kill, you have still missed so much. If I say, "do not touch my computer," as I have said so many times before, that is still conditional: If the building my computer is in burns down, I would want it saved. If there is a flood, I would want my computer saved. If someone comes along and offers whoever is near it far, far more money than it's worth, I would sell it (assuming I trusted the person who had posession of the money). There are other circumstances as well. Most laws are conditional, and exceptions can be made by the person who gives the laws.

Wow. You found an atheist website.
Did you actually read the first scripture you posted, or was it a copy and paste job? Did you notice that the Amalekites were the agressors? What should we do, when someone lies in wait for us, to murder us and our children and to steal from us? God gave Israel permission to fight back.
OK, now...Thou shalt not kill.
That is one of what we call "The Ten Commandments"...you know, those out-dated rules everyone wants to throw out of our public offices, courthouses, schools, etc. This particular rule, as many here have already pointed out to you, deals with murder. I'm sure you will agree, for a society to condone murder would not be a good thing.
Look, there are alot of great websites out there. But remember, any idiot can put up a website, and one heck of alot of them do. There are websites with everything from where to get the best buy on silverware, to pictures of people having sex with animals. Enjoy your computer, but, please, child, use some sense.

Well another question that desirves a round of applause, first of all let's go there!
cane and able
david and goliath
jerico
lott and seth (Gamora)
Oh yes and let's not forget the Jews who killed Jesus
Passover, plagues, noahs flood, to mention a few
Are you so convinced that us "fundamentalists"
haven't seen this one before?
Let's take it at street value
1. DON'T PISS GOD OFF
2. The first murder was evil killing good God always said Vengence is mine sayeth the Lord
3. DON'T PISS GOD OFF
4. Two of these killings that I have mentioned were a certain blood line tied together by Adam and it is known as the Jews and the Isrealites the Jews have always been known to try to sever the blood line of Jesus to claim the thrown of heaven however God had a different plan. Jesus was resurected. Nice try guys but you forgot who was in charge!
5. Read john 8:44 where Jesus was speaking to the Pharisis and Scribes (The Jewish church) "Ye are of your father the Devil and of his works ye shall do he was a murderer from the begining he was a liar and created all lies"
6. These Jews are from the blood line of cane who took up a wife and had a son called Enoch. So we know there were people before adam and eve because it says so in Genisis chapter one and six etc. Chapter 1: 27 God created man and in chapter 2: 7 he creates man and this time man became a living soul now in chapter 6 it speaks of the Nephelim who were a race of giants they were also here.
7. All of the killings that were done by the "good guys" were orderd by God and as you know he made us and he could wipe us out with a thought, every one of the killings were provoked by there sensless murders and there constant denying that God was king (I think they were retarded or something) this would be under the phrase Vengence is Mine sayeth the Lord
8. The other 2 killings were done by let's say Satan and his boys. When Jesus died for our sins and prayed to his father he was in Rome at the time because the chicken s*** Jews couldn't kill him themselves they sent him to be killed by the romans and the Romans didn't know who he was so they crucified him, Jesus prayed and said " Father forgive THEM for they know not what they do. (the romans)
9. All you have to do to be forgiven is accept Jesus as your savior and do you think the Jews would do that........No they don't believe in Jesus and they don't want to either because that would mean they would have to admit defeat.
10. But for us "Fundamentilists" we will listen to OUR Father (GOD) and we always have but if we should kill for any reason at all we can ask forgivness, now that doesn't mean it's Ok to kill because that would just give evil permission to rule over us. God is our king and Jesus was his son, we are very clear on that! So we don't just go ahead and kill.
11. Are there any more questions, if there is read Revelations where God Kills the Devil! He will "Be obliterated and so bad that his name will not even be remembered!

Two different situations and the original text was written in Hebrew, not English! It is very difficult sometimes for us to comprehend the Bible when translation gets in the way. In other words, don't hand on every English word.........try to understand the concept of what's going on (very difficult for humans anyway).

It was NOT ok for someone to kill another person for personal satisfaction. God commanded them to wipe out Amalek, because he deceived the Lord and did not keep his law. People could be cut off from the nation for not following basic law.

In the end, be very glad that Jesus came and sacrificed himself for us. He did what we couldn't do - keep God's laws.

Both are correct. Jesus Himself explained (as the Jews well understood what this meant anyway) that this means don't murder anyone. War is clearly not the same as murder. This is Matthew 19:18

18He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,

It's very easy for you to take things out of context, isn't it? The Ten Commandments clearly state THOU SHALT NOT KILL. In the old testament, there is wuite a bit of war and the wrath of God. In the new testament is where your answer lies.

The Bible is true. We have a law in the United States that says you can't commit murder. Yet we have soldiers fighting a war and killing people everyday. There's a difference between killing someone out of self defence or need, then killing them out of anger or hate.

Its not out of context there is a difference in the LORD saying people need to be punished so causing a great flood and just killing because someone pissed you off at a party.

You have a valuable point. Just remember to kill these days don't go without punishment. I say not to kill. Its a sin and 1 of the 10 commandments.
