My baby boy does not quite weigh enough. He only weighs 16.5 lbs. He is very active. I try everything to make him gain weight. What else can I try?

Does the doctor say he is underweight? I have always been 2-3 pounds underweight since I was about 10 months old. I'm just naturally skinny and active......people are jealous.

I think that you should take him to the doctor, and they will know what to do, there may even be a hormone imbalance or something like that that might need treatment. Other then that, if he's happy and healthy, don't worry about his weight too much.

Get him started on McDonalds and Burger King and Jack in the Sack. It works for everyone else. I'm confident it can work with an infant too, though you might have to puree the burgers and fries a bit. And the good thing about this diet is that the weight will stay on.

Three balanced meals a day. Do not try or make your child over eat. If your doctor is not concerned, leave it to nature.

Do you want an over weight 12 year old. Do you want your child to have weight issues the rest of it's life because you want a fat baby?

First off, ask your doctor how much you can expect him to weigh. He may be smaller than average because his mom and dad are smaller than average, so it may be OK. If there is a medical reason to be worried, then your doc can figure out what is wrong.

you should only worry about this if his pediatrician says he needs to gain weight, otherwise don't worry, and if they have then ask them....i used to give my child baby cereal the "oatmeal" mixed w/ the formula or regular white rice w/ butter, or cooked elbow noodles w/ butter and a little sugar added and he chunked up!

Try some whole milk instead of formula, and if you haven't already started him on solid food, i suggest you do. You also might want to consult your doctor and see what he has to say about this.

Try getting some of those nutrition formulas and also try waiting awhile, things should even out after awhile.

Have you tried Pediasure? He'll at least get the vitamins he needs. But don't take my advice ... consult your pediatrician.
