Cats have an amazing amount of flexibility, allowing them to brace so much better for impact, and have better "shock absorbancy". Also, their reflexes are just so much quicker. With the reflexes & the flexibility, they are able to whip their body around all the faster. If you notice when they land they also do a little bit of a walk after, gets rid of anertia (sp?).

a cat will almost always land on its feet because when it is falling it twists its body w/ its feet toward the ground. however, a cat wont always land on its feet.

cats were built that way...
just that they might miss if they are in a state of shock or they fell from too high a place.
