Definitely see your Dr.
Could be as simple as flea bites, since they are extremely itchy. If you were out in grass, that would be common. If you were laying on a lounge chair with the open weave bar-type, they jump up and bite whatever they can get to.
Or possibly a bacterial infection of the hair follicles (folliculitis), for which you could use antibacterial soap like dial, but need to see your Dr. for a prescription cream.

Bee sting- have you been stung recently? Are you allergic to bee stings? When you do the laundry, does all the soap get rinsed out, by the washer? Do your clothse completely dry, before you put them away or wear them? Do your socks? I'm thinking maybe it's a bee sting or laundry soap. Perhaps a spider bite. Or another kind of bug bite. Go easy on the welt. But you might consider gently rubbin some cream on it.

there is an amazing product called Pinxav that is a miracle product for rashes. They have a web site, check it out. You'll love this stuff. NBC's Today show is featuring it this friday for a segment on great summer products. Daily Candy is also writing about them this Friday.

Have you taken any medications or do you have allergies? Rashes can be side effects of these. Either try some hydricortisone or see your doctor

where have you been lately? touched anything or eaten anything unusual that is not in your daily routine? change any aspect in your life (even detergent or soap or anything)? you might have an allergy, but i'm not confirming it is because i don't know what the rash looks like.
