Just go up and say to your mom " I met this guy, and I really like him and he likes me back, so we decided to go out/start a relationship." I'm assuming that you're a teenager so your mom should fully understand that it's usually unavoidable that you're going to eventually find someone you're interested in and date them, so if your mom is normal, she should understand. However, don't hesitate to let your mom meet this boy.

I did'nt really have to. It was kinda obvious. I was 13 and my b/f kept commin around the house. So my mom just asked me one day why he was over the house all the time, is he your boyfriend or something?
As for you, if what you want is to be open and honest with your mom then just tell her. When it's just you and your mom ( grocery shopping or when it's just you two in the kitchen or something) tell her about your b/f and let her know that he's your official first boyfriend.
She may lay down some rules at that point but she's only doing it for your protection so don't wigg out if you feel like she's being unfair. ( Trust me you'll thank her for it when you're older ).
It's really important that you stay open and honest with your mom. Especially at your age. You just may need her help one day. I'm not saying you and your mom need to be best friends or anything but in order for your mom to feel like she can trust you as you get older you need to stay honest and obey the rules.
So, go on and stop reading and go talk to your mom. Best of luck hon and congrats on the new beau!

I told her just as I'd tell her we needed to buy more milk. I walked up to her and just said, "Hey Mom, guess what? I got a boyfriend!" That way, she could ask me any questions she might have, and at the same time, being nonchalant enough that she knew it was nothing serious.

I told my mom, and she was alright with it (she just kept on bothering me about him). Like mightymight said, it really does depend on your age. I'm ten, and still, my mom didn't care, because she knew that I wouldn't do anything with him. She trusts me, and if your mom does the same, you could tell her easilly.

well told her then moved out.. Bad decision. But just sit her down and just tell her if you guys are close she will understand. Also depending on how she feels about the guy.

Just be honest. I have 4 daughters and what I tell them is take it slow. Be friends first. I know there are some things I wish i didnt know about my daughters but they tell me so i can support them and guide them. Good Luck.

Well she was on to to begin with and she asked. I told her it was true and kept things open. It was great. Just be honest. and if you can tell it to your mom it can't be that bad.
