Isn't a sweet potato still starchy?

Sweet pototoes are slightly better than regular potatoes because they contain Vitamin A, a bit more fiber and digest slightly slower (they are better for you on the glycemic index table : http://www.glycemicindex.com). They are both starchy though and are almost entirely made up of carbohydrates.

You can compare white potatoes and yams / sweet potatoes here:

Sweet potatoes are delicious! They are quite different from white potatoes because they have lots of flavor without adding any butter, salt, etc.
They are loaded with vitamin A, and easy to bake.
if you want, add cinammon, butter and brown sugar, but adds lots of calories.
