I have a white boxer named Luna and she not only gets along with other dogs in the neighborhood (several schnauzers), labs, mini Chihuahuas but our Siberian husky and two cats that were all here before her. I have a 5 year old daughter that plays fetch and hide and seek (under blankets) and she loves it. Boxers are rated in the top 5 of the best family dogs. I think any puppy that is trained well will do fine. They do tend to be hyper because they are built so strong a good running game of fetch or a nightly walk will take care of that though. They are very fast learners and are great at tricks. Luna gives high fives, shakes, rolls over, sits with the treat on her nose until you tell her OK and has learned all the normal voice commands. She loves the water so much she will jump in the shower with you. I would take a boxer over a lab any day.

Boxers are great dogs. People will tell you they're crazy, and I will agree with that a little- I know some examples that are total space cadets. However, boxers have become guide dogs and service dogs in the USA. They need good training and socialisation, like any dog, from a young age, and if this is done well, they will get on fine with other dogs. They tend to be good family dogs. Talk to some breeders (use a reputable one, not a backstreet dealer) who will be able to talk to you (even if you aren't necessarily interested in one of their dogs) about temperament, breed specific diseases, clubs and training clubs. Boxer rescue can also advise you. At crufts and the Wag and Bone Show (which is fab- I went to the first one and it was a cracking day out) you can meet loads of dog owners who are almost all more than happy to sit and talk about their dogs all day! You would see many different examples of the breed, and I'm sure your dog would have a great time- mine did!

It depends on what kind of a dog will suit you. Boxers usually have a fairly high energy level. They love to run and play. They are usually gentle dogs, but do take about two years to leave the puppy stage. They are soft mouthed dogs which means they do drool. My own dog, an Airedale Terrier, has a best buddy at the dog park who is a boxer. Depending on the kind of person you are it could be a good or bad match. I would talk to some owners and check out the American Kennel Club to get started. Please do not buy a dog from a store or a backyard breeder. You need a reputable breeder or rescue club and the AKC can help you find one.

all dogs make good pets, as long as you train them properly and give them plenty of love, attention and exercise. that's the main thing about boxers - they do need a lot of exercise and stimulation. i think you need to be more worried about whether your jack russell will get on well with a newcomer - whatever the breed - rather than the other way around. jrs are territorial and extremely possessive of their owners, and are not afraid to take an a bigger dog (remember they're bred to hunt rats) in defence of their turf. you have to make sure your existing pet is prepared to make room for a new one, otherwise you could have problems.

You will have the best dog around if you treat it right. Of course you will take your jack russell to meet the new dog first, to see if they are compatible. However if you are a nice person, you must be you love dogs, both your dogs willl get on. Its how you behave and treat your animals that is the key here. You don't need any luck.

Boxers are awsome. I have a 2 year old and he is the sweeetest thing. they like attention though. if you work a lot its probably not a good choice. mine will do anything for attentin. oh and you might want to get a high fence. they can jump up to 6 feet high when they're adults. and they like to chase cars. they like to lick a lot too. They use their paws . some if they're really hungry will push their bowls around the floor.
mine loves other dogs but is afraid of bigger dogs so you should be fine good luck

they are very good pets. they are also good fence jumpers, tend to be pretty curious about things that could get them into trouble or hurt them, not always the brightest dogs and can have health problems; the upside is that they are very playful, are usually good with other dogs if you get them young enough to socialize them properly and they are some of the most loving dogs i have personally come across. they are dedicated, loyal and loving, what more can you ask for?

they are great family dogs very loyal and protective. Make sure to get one from good breeding and if possible spend time with both of the puppies parents. its easier to train a puppy to get used to a small hyper dog such as a terrier then a adult thats already set in its ways (although still not impossible with a adult).
