I feel the same way about illegal immigration as you and I'm anything but racist! I do how ever believe in right and wrong. Race has nothing to do with these issues...it's being used as a cover in this case is what I think.

Nothing about your statement is racist.

Even if you are not racist, there are many racists who are against immigration of all kinds. They find it easiest to fit in when they argue against illegal immigration. Some of the mainstream anti-immigration groups allow these racists in their organizations and it brings discredit on them. So there are some bad examples.

If "illegal immigrant" brings to mind only an image of a poor Mexican field hand swimming across the river than running throught he desert, maybe you are a little. . . I don't want to use a charged word like racist but maybe you're making assumptions based on race. First of all, a lot of the Latino immigrants are from other countries like Guatemala, not just Mexico. Second, many arrive here legally. They just overstay their visas. Third, even if Latin Ameirca is the biggest source of illegal (and legal) immigration, there is also a huge amount from Asia and Europe too. When people are against immigration because they are afraid that whites will no longer be the majority race, or that European customs and values will no longer be at the center in America, or are against immigration because they think the immigrants are never going to learn English, then yes, that might be a little racist.

I disagree with your characterization that people coming here are taking cuts around the system because there is no realistic system for them to follow and because as a nation we're sending a complete mixed message about whether we want them here or not. But that's a different issue.

I'm oppose to illegal immigration as well. "They" say racist because it's a generalization that we must be objecting because the illegal immigrants are mostly non-Caucasians. I'm an Asian American who is a huge supporter of shoring up our Canadian and Mexican borders, and deporting illegal immigrants. I have friends who are legal immigrants, and they are unhappy about my viewpoint. And I do feel badly for these illegals who risk life, limb, family to cross the borders, and then get crappy wages and are abused here. Actually the people who exploit illegals are the real racists. Besides we need LEGAL immigrants who will pay social security tax. Thank god for immigrants, since the current American birth rate would not support social security system. (Japan's pension issues could be our future.)

I am pro-amnesty......so I guess I fall in this questions ballpark.

It doesn't make you a racist......NOT AT ALL.....race has NOTHING to do with ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION.

What happens with a subject like this IS........many people USE it as a platform for HATE.

Example: I am Ginger.....I hate what illegal immigration is doing to this country.........BUT......I realize that the problem is widespread and not just limited to one country. I am posting on a forum and want to back up my beliefs.......I get hit with "all Mexicans are illegals and they are the scrunge of the earth and have destroyed America". Do I counter with "all illegals are not Mexican"........or do I go with "I agree". Most follow the crowd.....and THUS get labeled "racists" when in fact they just want the illegal immigration problem to be solved.

It is not a race issue......it is a valid concern that should be addressed as such.

Because you're using this negative attitude and applying it to an entire group. All Mexicans, or Americans of Mexican descent are being targeted by this hatred. You are against illegal immigration and yet only one group is being the target of all this hatred. Why only Mexicans? There are illegal immigrants from all over the world, but it is now a Mexican issue. It reminds me of how the Japanese Americans were treated after Pearl Harbour, where an entire group of people were treated badly because they had Japanese origins. It also reminds me of how all Muslims are labeled terrorists because of 9/11. When are we going to stop labeling / stereotyping / discriminating?

I noticed that you answered an obviously derogatory question about Mexican people posted by the yellow-bellied GG by saying "Deport them..." Rather than scolding him for his terrible remarks, you supported him with your protest about illegal immigration. If you support discrimination then you will be labeled a racist.

Who knows. I have the same views as you do. I am against illegal immigration but some of my closest friends have parents and family that were immigrants to this country yet they are extremely pro-america.

not really racist but more pro-patriot would be the correct term. if just so happens to be considered racism bcuz the immigrants are foreign. were these illiegal immigrants like american in some way, then there would just be a problem with the legal aspect of it.

Some of us don't think the word 'illegal' and 'immigration' belong together. It is a sort of contradiction in terms.
Raceist?Hell no! If all the poor people of the world sneaked into this country I wonder if those people defending our present flood of 'illegals' would be as passionate in their defense of THEM as they are of the current paltry twelve to twenty million.

Because when they talk about illegal immigrants THEY mean Mexican, when their are a lot of other illegals who happen to be white!

They have suggested murdering them, and all kinds of illegal acts. Their questions drip of racism, and most are Republicans, who are generally anti everyone except clones of themselves!
