Vegetables are cheap and added to a little meat and rice or pasta can be very inexpensive. Scratch cooking is usually cheaper than pre-packaged or pre-prepared foods.
You can make up stews and casseroles and then freeze in smaller portions. I used to take the grown up food and if it wasn't soft enough for baby, would put it through a food grinder. They liked real food so much better than that bland baby stuff.
The food is healthier and cheaper when you make it from scratch anyhow. Oh..and almost every kid loves spaghetti, lasagne, etc.

Try to avoid the fat, salt and sugar that is loaded into processed, prepared foods. An easy, healthy meal can be homemade chicken tenders rolled in grated cheese and crumbs and baked, frozen or fresh veggies, milk and fruit or unweetened applesauce with cinnamon.
Baked fish is healthy and reasonably-priced. Scrambled eggs, cheese and fruit or veggies. Turkey roll-ups with lettuce, tomato, light cream cheese spread and tortillas. Meatloaf with cooked carrots and kiwi or apples for dessert.
The earlier you start children on healthy meals, the less likey they are to become obese and the more likely they are to learn to like to meals and make better choices on their own.

I'm a single dad and always looking for something easy to make for dinner. My daughter loves this so I will pass it along and hope it helps. 1 box of mac. and chz...1 can tuna...1 can cream of mushroom soup and i can peas......make the mac and chz, heat the soup and peas and mix everything together....serves 4.......spaghetti is always good and easy.........In the summer I make tuna or chicken salad sandwiches and cut them into finger food slices and serve with shredded carrots and sliced hard boiled eggs......I'm also a big fan of the crock pot but don't know if your little one could do a pot roast yet.....if I think of anymore I'll let you know !

Mac and cheese. Spaghetti. Chicken and rice. Get bone in chicken, it's cheaper. Then debone it yourself...super easy. Get frozed veggies instead of fresh, they're cheaper and most nutrients are still there since they are frozen at peak freshness. Try not to use recipes with lots of milk as milk gets expensive.
