Well just by what little bit of info you gave. Seems like there is more to it. If he was let go for say. Forgetting to put something on a report. They wouldn't have black listed him. To be black listed like that . You would have to do something major. Like abuse, not reporting an accident,etc.. Find out the true reason before it's to late. I would be concerned if you was my sister.

Well first for other departments, he is not "re-hired" but hired, departments are not connected.
But an officer after he starts goes though a police academy, if he completed this, he would have received his police POST certification which allows him to work for any department in that state ( that would hire him)
If he worked for a department for a short time, and was sent to the academy and did not pass it, then he can not work as a police officer unless he goes back to the academy and passes it.
After the academy he will have so many months of field training, that is where he rides or is supervised by a field traininig officer. he is a police officer but on probation.
If he does not pass his field training, the department will not keep him either.
And of course often if there is a new chief hired, several officers will always be fired shortly after, so they can hire thier friends in ( esp small departments)
next in small departments, the city counsel has alot of influence to bother the police department, so if he did not get along with some of the city political people, he could loose his job also.
Normally a officer unless they have a college degree, POST certication and some experience can't get onto the larger departments.
So if he can't get hired by another department, he did something wrong or failed to pass the academy.
If he is just having alot of trouble getting hired by one, he merely got fired over one of a 1000 reason police officers lose thier jobs

Well, the first 6 months of a police officers career is a probationary period. That frankly means that the department can fire him for any damn reason they want. They don't really even need a reason. They can just say he is not going to fit in or work out there and ...so long. I would just ask him what happened. Chances are its nothing big.

I don't think it's fair to judge somebody just because he was terminated from his job. There is always 2 sides to the story remember... maybe he was done over by somebody from the department? I would go on a few more dates with him and get to know him a little bit better. Then you have to go by your gut feeling... If you think something is not right and that he may have lost his job due to him being a bad person or doing something dishonest then ditch him. Good luck :)

I think it is pretty unusual to be fired from the police department, they will normally reallocate them somewhere else (and there is always a need for my police officers).
Did you ask him the exact reason why he was terminated?

If this fellow has anger problems, or he's pissed off high brass, the likelihood of him getting hired by another department is unlikely. I would be careful. Keep your eyes:)
