What level would you say your hair is? What tone? etc. Once you determine the level, and the levels of lift you will need. Then you can decide from there the Products and toners etc. You will use. Then you need to know your hairs porosity and what it can take and the damage you will do.
If you had a picture, we could give you a better estimate of help. But honestly, leave it up to the pro's and go get your hair done at a Salon. That's what we're here for!

Ever think of dying your hair black? I "had" medium/dark brown hair and something clicked in me one night and I dyed it black. I get rave comments about my black hair. I suggest making it darker as opposed to make it lighter.
One of the reasons I suggest going darker is in high school, I had my hair dyed a lighter brown, but when the color started fading, it looked awful. The mix of light brown and dark brown... at least when the black dye goes away, the hair colors are both dark and it doesn't look as awkward. It actually makes my original brown hair look kinda reddish.
Anyway, that's my suggestion. Good luck with what you decide!

there are certain dyes out there that are temporary. they wash out in 10-12 washes, so u can see which u like better. Clairol works really well becayuse there is a color wheel on the box., u look at the colors and iot tells u what shade u should go to. i wouldnt reccomend using any food products because although they may work, it is really hard to get them out of ur hair if u hate the way it turnde outr

Don't use food to color your hair. You can buy a packaged dye at the store for anywhere from 3 to 15 dollars. I would get a temporary dye at first so if it looks bad, you will be able to wash it out.

we have ten levels in hair 10 being the lightest and 1 being the darkest(black) if you feel your hair is about a 7 go to shades lighter to give you a lighter look ...ex..light brown auburn hair 5r try Lorelle they have a good selection...have fun..coloring is always the way to change without damaging. remember that your hair will only change up to two levels only with color.(up or down in shades)

You need to bleach your hair lighter first. If you do not, the hair color you use will turn red in a few days. Best results will be if you have it done by a hair dresser.

use a hair dye specifically made for dark hair, even then you will probably have some orange/red tint to it. keep it well conditioned and it will maintain the color better.

If you have a Sally's Beauty Supply Store, call them, they'll know. First you have to lighten it, then put on the Toner, which is the Color you prefer. I suggest the Instant Whip, for the lightener, cause it's gentle & fast.

After you take a shower and wash your hair put fresh lemon on it.
Just squeeze it over your hair. That plus sun work great.
