This is our birds second attempt at parenting. The last time only one egg hatched and the hatchling didn't survive (we think the male had killed it, because of peck marks). This time we removed the male when we heard noise coming from the nest the female made. The are coming up on two weeks old?

I can't say for sure on parakeets but we are raising some sparrows and I have learned that they will leave the nest when they are about 23 days old - or three weeks. Since they will be lousy fliers at first, make sure the bottom of the cage is padded with some crumpled tissue or paper towels so they won't get hurt if they fall, and make sure it is really, really clean so they are not sitting in their own poo. Put a piece of clean sponge in a tiny dish on the bottom and keep it wet so they can drink without drowning. Good luck - I love my sparrows!

circulate the full cage ( as that's ) slowly. in case you progression the cage slowly, maximum parakeets won't suggestions. in case you progression it violently and quickly, the female parakeet ought to abandon the eggs out of outrage. On numerous activities, i've got moved the full cage in the previous with out having the female parakeet forsaking her eggs. -- PA
