I'm sure this has been suggested to you, but keep a food diary. There are common triggers, but they can also be very individual. Because a most "experts" believe that a migraine is caused by the expansion of blood vessels at the surface of the brain, try to avoid any foods that can make this condition worse (dairy, nuts, citrus, etc). Some triggers are tricky to track. MSG, for example can be found in a huge variety of foods, through trial and error you'll find what you can eat, and don't deviate.
You may also want to keep a sleep diary to try to find out if you are getting too much or too little sleep.
Also, try not to overuse analgesics or triptans... it only causes rebound headaches and makes your body tollerant to the meds.

The obvious answer is don't eat the foods that trigger the migraines. My trigger is a frequency of light. A certain light level reflected off something and the aura starts. I carry an Imitrex inhaler all the time. As soon as the aura starts, I hit the inhaler. Usually works quite well.

Well, I can not give you any advice on foods.

For that I do know a way to probably get rid of your migraine, definetely:

Go for a manual one-time treatment called Atlasprofilax. The effect on the self-healing power of the body is simply amazing - own experience. :-)

And it's really worth travelling far - at present the treatment is available in California and Europe only, costing less than 200 dollars. Good luck!

i get migraines every single day and i am on four different medications for it. I found appling ice to my head in the area that hurts the worse it helps with some of the pain. I also found staying away from caffine, chocolate, and fatty foods make migraines worse. You may want to talk to ur doctor about medicines to help you with ur migraines they have some that dont make u drowsy and gets rid of the migraine as soon as it starts. It is really great that is what i have. hope this helps.

No, caffeine, alcohol, chocolate -
Now, if you feel one coming on - lie down IMMEDIAtELY AND APPLY HOT compress to the head, massage head & neck, breathe deeply, elevate feet & legs at 90 degrees up against a wall... this will abort the constriction phase of the headache....stay down for about an hour...
if you get up, you'll have to start all over....Good luck !
