Actually to make things even easier, there are packages that you can get in the freezer section that you just dump into a crock pot with water and let them cook! Some of them are actually pretty good. Esp chicken and dumplings! :)

This is really simple and can be thrown together into the crock pot within minutes before leaving for work. Put into the crockpot as follows: boneless chicken breasts, a package of fresh sliced mushrooms, a cut up green bell pepper and a jar of spaghetti sauce. Salt, pepper, minced garlic, basil and oregano to taste. Cook on low for 10 hours or so or on high for about 7 hours. When you get home cook some noodles and pick up salad mix and a fresh loaf of italian bread on your way home from work. Dinner is served! This meal like many is actually better the next day, so plan on leftovers because it makes alot.

There are thousands of slow cooker recipes floating around. One that we love very much is beef and noodles.
Beef and Noodles
2 packages au jou mix mixed with the recommended amount of water on the pkgs
2 lbs beef stew meat in 1" chunks or whatever size you like the best
One large pkg or 2 small pkgs of frozen noodles or if you have the time home made noodles. The pkgs of dried noodles won't be as good but if that is all you have access to they will work iin a pinch.

Mix the 2 pkgs of au jou mix with the water and put in slow cooker with the stew meat and turn on low for 8 hours or on high for 4 hours. During the last hour add the frozen noodles to the mixture and turn onto high for another 40 minutes to an hour.

This is for a large slow cooker. For the more standard size halve the recipe. It will work just fine. It is a forgiving meal and won't hurt to cook longer it simply makes the beef more tender. Do not add salt to this recipe as the au jou is quite salty but pepper to taste.

I was never a fan of pot roast, but I tried this recipe once because it was fast and easy. My husband says it was the best meal I ever made him, and we fought over leftovers!

3-4 lbs roast (can use pork or beef, but I really liked the beef better)
1 (10 1/2 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup, any brand
1 (1 ounce) package ranch dressing mix (some people use onion soup mix, I prefer Ranch)
Pepsi
1 large onion (optional)
2-3 potatoes, quartered (optional)

Place roast in the bottom of crock pot.
If you are adding onions and/or potatoes, cut these now and place on top of the roast.
Pour cream of mushroom soup over roast (and onions/potatoes).
Spinkle full pkg of ranch mix on top of the soup.
Pour Pepsi over all. I use enough Pepsi to mostly cover all ingredients, and because it makes the best sauce/gravy I have ever tasted!
Bake in crock pot all day, and enjoy a wonderful supper! If you want to start eating sooner, just cook on high.

To me crock pot most = stew. Meat and veggies, that's what belongs in a crock pot, simmering for hours.
