SEALs are the only area I can think of that don't have Officers that didn't come up the ranks of an enlisted. You may come across supply officers and others that are attached to a team but do not wear the Trident. EOD is the same as I remember.
He who completed Buds, has completed a task in life offered to many but only AccomplisheD by a few.

If you want to be a Navy SEAL you have to live Navy SEAL... it can not be something in the back of your mind that you might want to do, if you decide you DO want to devote your young life to being a SEAL then I would not personally recomend the officer route. I am getting my college degree but I am still going to enlist. Most officers who want to become SEALs actually drop ranks to get in because it is VERY difficult to even get a slot in BUD/s as an officer and once you are in, it is harder to complete as the instructors expect a lot more out of you.
If by some miracle you make it to the teams, an officer goes through more training while the rest of his BUD/s class goes to SEAL qualifying training (SQT) so you are held back...then you attend SQT with the next BUD/s class and once after that you are on a boat for a yr as a leader for the SEALs but not in the combat...(no experienced SEAL team wants to be led by some newbie so it is kind of a probationary period) and after that, you are on a team, but depending on rank will probably not see near as much combat as the enlisted men. If you really have your heart set on becoming an officer, I strongly recomend going to BUD/s first, and if you make it then go to Officer Candidate school as a SEAL.... MUCH easier route.

BUDS is very tough, I watched Navy Seals: Class 234 on the discovery channel and all the stuff they went through..hell week etc and people drop out during hellweek is because they lose the motivation then quit, you need to be really physically fit too, 4 mile timed runs. It was scary watching it, too hardcore for me. But it's a major accomplishment if you become a navy seal..good luck

It's hard as crap to be accepted to BUD/S as an officer. If you want to be a SEAL officer, enlist and become a SEAL, then go to OCS.
