You should contact the airline directly to try to book a seat.
Depending on the class of your ticket, there may be certain travel restrictions on your ticket. Usually, the cheaper your ticket, the more travel restrictions there are, and the longer you will have to wait to get a seat. The airlines may say to you that in order to travel, you will have to pay an extra fee in order to get a seat.
Since you are anxious to get to your destination, this may be something you will have to do.
