the connection between Christians and Muslims goes back to Abraham (remember the old guy who God said would have so many descendants that they would outnumber the stars in the sky or the grains of sand along the shore). anyway, Abraham and Sarah got tired of waiting for God to deliver on His promise and so Sarah told Abraham to sleep with her maidservant, which he did, and she bore him a son named Ishmael. Ishmael became the father of the Arab nation and Jacob (Abraham's son with Sarah) became the father of the Jewish nation. I'm not sure if Jesus is mentioned in the Koran, but He is a descendant of King David, who was a descendant of Abraham, and so there is a common lineage through Abraham.

I have never read the Koran, being a Christian, I have read the BIble. Jesus is not a Muslim prophet in the Bible. Islam may consider Jesus a prophet in their religion. Since the Bible is the inspired word of God and the Koran is not, I feel like the stories would be different.

The Koran considers Jesus to be a prophet - in fact the second most important prophet after Mohammed himself.
The Koran also teaches a version of the virgin birth - i.e. Jesus did not have a human father. The Koran also teaches that Jesus performed miracles. One such miracle was that Jesus as a child turned a bird made of clay into a living bird by clapping His hands. This miracle is recorded in the apocraphal "Gospel of Thomas", which is an early but unreliable account of the life of Jesus.
The Koran teches that Jesus preached the message of Islam, but His words were distorted by the Apostles and the early Church (However, there is no evidence outside the Koran to support this theory). Because of this, the Koran rejects the doctrine of atonement, the resurection and Jesus being the Son of God. .

According to the scripture in the Bible Jesus was a Jew, And Jewish people are not traditionally Muslim. The way the stories in the Bible and the stories in the Koran differ is the Muslim faith do not believe that Jesus was the son of God. In the christian faith and according to the scripture in the bible, not only was Jesus the son of God but was also one in the same. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. It might be a good idea to read the Bible a bit or talk to pastor or someone who could give you more insight on who Jesus really is. Hope this has helped you and remember God loves you. :-)

The Bible says that Jesus is the Savior that the Jews were waiting for and the Koran just has Him as a prophet. That's as much as I know. I don't know the specifics on how the stories differ.

Of course not! I don't believe He was religious- rather - He was the Son of God. That was all He needed to be.
Mohammed, who founded the Islam religion, wasn't even born until about 570 years after Christ. He claimed to be a prophet in about 616 a.d. , and his followers are the ones who wrote the Koran down. Now, the Bible says that there would be no other word given, so go figure. If they accept Jesus and His words, then they have to reject the "new word," because God does not lie.

The Koran is essentially an extension of the Torah and the Bible.
I think because you worded it weirdly, that people are getting confused and calling you wrong, but you are right. To Muslims, Jesus is a prophet, yes. They do not think he is the Son of God, though. They believe Mohammed was the last prophet.
Judaism, Christianity and Islam are called the Abrahamic faiths...Judaism first, Christianity second and Islam last.

The Q'ran claims that Jesus was a prophet of Allah.
This is why it says that the Gospels are canonical. However, in a different passage, it claims that the words of Jesus were corrupted.
When the Q'ran relates a tale found in the Torah, or Gospels, there are always significant differences, which can not be substantiated by archaeological evidence. [More to the point, in several instances the archaeological evidence demonstrates that the story in the Q'ran is wrong.]

The muslims DO call Jesus a prophet, but nothing more. No Son of God, etc. They also accept Moses as a prophet. They also see their lineage traced back to Abraham by way of Ishmael as opposed to Isaac. So with both groups tracing their bloodlines to Abraham that makes this the bloodiest and longest running family feud ever.
