Do you mean beagle? A female dog should be at least 2 yr old to avoid even more complications. Even then be prepared for prenatal care, vet bills- including possible ultrasounds, and a possible C-section. Hopefully, she'll want to mother her pups. Many dogs do not. You, having the female, will be responsible for finding homes for all of the pups the male dog owner does not want.

It is much better to have your dog spayed and avoid having her going into "heat" for 2 yrs. Many organizations will spay & neuter pets as young as 2 months for $45-$55. So many animals are euthanized every day at pounds and shelters. Save a life & you'll be their hero forever.

Female dogs can get pregnant on their first heat cycle which can be from 4-6 months of age. Larger breeds sometimes don't start their cycles till they are 6-9 months.

They reach sexual maturity at about 6 months of age, though if you intend to breed her, wait until she's at least a year, and have her vet checked to see if she can even handle having puppies. If you don't want her to have puppies, get her spayed when she reaches 6 months of age. Having her spayed will save her from breast and uterine/ ovarian cancer.

All dogs no matter the breed, should not be bred until they are 2 years old. They must be mature enough to handle pregnancy etc.

Well with my bulldog they recommended we wait until she was 3 and at 2 1/2 she was diagnosed with hip dysplasia so if we had bred her sooner then that it would have jeopardized her health even her life.
