"Know" is such a nebulous word. I can converse fairly fluently in English, Spanish and French (which means I have "acquired" these languages), but I have also studied New Testament Greek, Italian, German, Latin and Mandarin (which means I learned some bits and pieces of them but cannot carry on conversations -- although I can tell a couple of short stories in Italian and Mandarin). So, depending on what you mean by "know" I could say 3 or I could say 8.
