I'm about to make this right now ... they are what my mom calls 'Spoon Burgers'.
You take a pound or two of ground beef and cook that as loose meat. Drain the grease.
Mix in two cans of Campbell's Alphabet Vegetable soup (it will say 'vegetarian' on the can).
Then you mix in ketchup and mustard to taste. (just sample it until it seems like a good mix that you like)
Then I serve them on buns like a manwich with potato chips or tater tots.
My mom was creative with her meals since we didn't have a lot of money growing up, but I'm now almost 29 years old and still love spoon burgers!
I know the mixture might sound gross, but it really is good. I've made it for all of my friends and even taken it to work, and everyone that's tried it has loved it! Give it a try. =)

This is a good recipe that makes a lb of hamburg stretch and both adults and kids love it. Shepards Pie: Brown a lb of hamburg, drain and place in a casserole (season as you like); add on top two cans of drained corn (sometimes I use creamed corn instead or mix one regular with one creamed). Boil some potatoes and mash with a little milk and butter. Spread over the top. Bake in oven for 20 minutes or so. Yummy and very filling.

If you have 10-12 potatoes, one pound of ground beef, one can of cream of mushroom, and about two cups of cheese, you can make a dish.
Cook your potatoes about 15-18 minutes, until they soft but not too soft. Cook your beef until it is a brownish, grayish color but not burned. Mix in small layers of soup, potatoes, beef, soup again, and then a top layer of cheese, or in any combination.
You can layer this once or twice in a glass dish
and salt and pepper as you wish. You may or not use all
the soup. Oven 425' until cheese is melted or Microwave
45 sec to 1 min. Hope you enjoy!

Buy whole chickens, especially when on sale(.99lb) or less, I payabout $12 for 3 whole chickens at costco so a family of 3 can eat for about $1 a piece. make sure you season good, I use season salt, lemon pepper, & dill weed, add soy sauce to bottom of pan( about 1/3 cup, it mixes with the juice from chicken great for dipping and a whole chicken is plenty for 3, plus any leftovers, make chicken salad for sandwiches!

try this recipe for cube steaks.
1. marinated cube steaks in Italian salad dressing .
2. then dip the steaks in bread crumbs
3 bake at 350 for 15 mins depending on well you want them done.
for sides dishes try the old standby mashed potatoes, and a veggies.
Also try French salad dressing on top of meatloaf instead of ketchup.
for a late night snack try a can of chocolate frosting on slatines crackers. A great cheap snack.
