Most states require you to have a license to work as a PI. Best thing to do is call a PI or Security company and ask them what you need to work as one. If your working as a PI and you have to report to court over something. The defense would have a field day w/ you.

You contact them and offer your services. Many need people for all sorts of tasks, Now I don't know what you think you could be doing, and what they do. It is nothing like on TV , you know that, and alot of the things you do, you have to be licenced by the state as an PI.
also many do court service work to help pay bills
and alot of sitting for hours and hours in a car watching someone do notihing inside thier home

They are private business people so you will need to look in the yellow pages for their numbers.
