Paul talks about being "caught up in the air" "in a twinkling of an eye". Unfortunately, far too many Christians are planning on being whisked away and sitting on a cloud while the balance of humanity takes a beating.
Realistic Christians that love Jesus realize that we will face some very tough times ahead. But we also know that we are needed here, for that very reason.
Why , then are words like "trinity" and "rapture" that are not found in the bible used so often by Christians? They catch on when a popular author or preacher coins a descriptive word when trying to convey understanding of a particular bible passage. Probably a more accurate term for this process is "translation", which IS mentioned in the bible.

You have to talk scriptures out of context to create the rapture as it is taught. The Billy Graham website used to have a link about a great Canadian evangelist of the last century. He was asked to write a pamphlet explaining the rapture and when he started doing the research, he discovered it was not in the scriptures. (I can't find the link on their website any more after sending it to my SIL who is totally obsessed with the rapture.) Anyway, the concept was never taught in the time of Christ and wasn't taught until the 1800's. It has been embraced by many fundamentalist churches and there is an entire series of books around the rapture.
I do believe Christ will come again without a rapture.

Let me think about this one...if you are looking up the word rapture in the bible then you will never find it. Look up the meaning of the word. The word rapture is taken from the Latin verb (rapere) which is used in the Latin Bible in 1 Thess. 4:17. The English meaning is "to be seized" or "to be caught up". The rapture refers to the time after the church age.
In that case, then the bible is filled of thing about rapture. In the 1 Thessalonians 4:17 it talks about caught up in the air Christ...Jesus talked about His second coming (the rapture) a lot before His ministry was done. I could go in forever but I know that it's really up to you to believe it.

The word "Bible" is never mentioned in the Bible either. Its from the ancient Greek word "Biblos," meaning "Book." True, the word "rapture" is never mentioned in the Bible. "Rapture" means to be caught up, and "being caught up in the clouds" is indeed mentioned in the Bible (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Both words are mans way of describing events or objects, so don't read too much into things.

The Bible does mention it. It is a well developed theology. The term "rapture" does not appear in the text. Rapture is the name we give to the described event.

I've heard that the rapture is the end of the world, i'm not sure what it is.
However if it does have something to do with the end of the World it is in the Bible. It's called Revalations.

You are correct in that the word rapture doesn't appear in the bible. In 1Thessalonians 4:17 it says that we will be "caught up". The greek word means "to be taken by force" or raptured.
