My dog Nash died three weeks ago. He was a beautiful 2 year old yellow lab. He got hit by a car. I was in the hospital at the time because of severe depression, and my dog was my best friend. I came back from the hospital for my first night pass home, walked in the door, and found him dead. I cried for days. Pathetic, I know, but there it is. I still don't like to talk about how my dog died because I will start bawling. I didn't even want to think about another dog but at my next psychiatrist visit the doctor insisted I get a puppy that day if possible.

I just got a 9 year old rescue dog this week; ironically, his master was in a car accident and is unable to take care of him. He is an awesome dog. It's not the same as it was, but that's not this dog's fault. I need something to take care of and take care of me right now.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, just because your aunt's moved on doesn't nessesarily mean she doesn't miss her old dog. Or that she was a bad pet owner. I still cry about Nash; you know, the certain things he used to do. I will always miss him. But right now there is another dog who needs me, and I am going to throw myself into taking care of him just like I did for Nash.

I bet it is because she missed her dog that she took in a rescued animal. Not even talking about her lost pet is a sign that thinking about the loss is a painful thing. I was forced once to have a dog put down. The house was so silent and lonely that I could not stand it. with in days i had brought a new dog home. Now I have had and loved that new pup for over nine years. but there are still things that remind me and make me remember the good times with the old dog too.

There is no way of knowing for sure why the dog died without having had a necropsy done. It could have been anything from a heartattack to an infection.

Each person grieves and handles the death of a pet in a different manner so there is really no right or wrong in how soon someone gets a new pet after losing one.

I assure you she is not over the dogs death, she will always be her in heart and loved just as much or more than the new rescue dog. There are several things that could have happened, like a stroke, giving birth too much for her heart and other possible things you should ask a Vet about. I assure you she loved her dog and she is not over loosing it. You cannot spend 5 years with a dog and not love him/her deeply. Hope this has helped.

The dog Maybe died from complication form the birth. It is normal for someone to get a new dog and it may seem as if they no longer care for the other dog but if you would ask they would still be very sad.

There are just some poisons that act in that little while, subsequently, I doubt very plenty it replace into some thing poisonous or some thing she ate. the main probably reason is hemangiosarcoma, a perilous maximum cancers that has replace into the scourge of a few breeds. Hemangio is very almost undetectable till its too late. If with the aid of success its got here across, treatment can purely benefit some months. Hemangio grows interior the blood vessels, there is no discomfort, then sooner or later it bursts and its throughout. mutually as no you may nonetheless tell for useful, the indicators you describe are classic for hemangiosarcoma. Its in all possibility too late, yet a vet can draw abdomen fluid from the continues to be and if there is various blood, it is particularly useful for hemangio, and saves the cost of an post-mortem. I lost a canines to hemangio, and extra those days a chum did additionally. i think for you. Ro

Only a vet could tell you why the animal died. Could have been poisoned, could have had a heart defect - anything.

Maybe your aunt needs to have a dog around. There's no "right" or "wrong" way to grieve.

i don't think it was wrong to get over a pet that fast. as much as she must of loved her she has to get over it. grieving for her pet will not bring her back. i know. i've tried lol!

maybe she drank something like antifreeze or chocalate.or maybe she had internal bleeding or had eaten a chicken bone.

hope this helps!
