Living is popular because the cost of dying is too much to bear @ once. If there isn't some huge insurance policy, most people can't afford to pay (all of a sudden) the expenses that come with death.

because the entire range of alternatives sucks...
Even if you factor in a very high rate of inflation over the
next several years, by the end of the decade living will
still be the norm for most people.. even those in the lower percentile of yearly income....
The rate of taxes will probably rise as well but won't lead to
any increase in the suicide rates.
For whatever reason, people seemed relatively determined to live on in spite of it all....
