PALL rhymes with CALL or Paul.

In a Catholic funeral, the pall is placed on the casket as a reminder of the baptismal garment. It is almost always white. If the casket has an american flag, it is removed at the entrance of the church and replaced with the pall. The flag goes back on after the casket leaves the church.

Hence the pall- bearer is the the one who bears the casket with the pall.
