From a Mormon point of view I believe that there were 12 Apostles in the Old World, and there were also 12 Apostles in the New World. See the Bible and the Book of Mormon for references to both. I also believe that there is a living Quorum of 12 Apostles today in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and each one of them has had a divine witness of Jesus Christ.
