Is it true that you cant get buried in a Jewish Cemetary if you have a tattoo? If so, Why?

Hi.
This is an urban legend (curb your enthusiasm anyone?).
The fact is that it is not true in ANY jewish sect. I asked an orthodox rabbi about it and he told me "if we didn't bury someone because he sinned, then there'd by nobody in the cemetery!"
I.e. everyone sins. It's bad, but it wouldn't prevent them from being buried in the cemetery.

No, it's not true for the most part. Maybe only in the most orthodox of Jewish sects, but otherwise no. There is a law in Leviticus, however, that seems to prohibit getting tattoos, so that's probably why you heard it.

Lev 19:28, "Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I [am] the LORD."

In certain sects yes... in the very strict versions of judeism tatoos are forbidden.
