existing jack has 4 connects in back, new jack has 6 connects and new wire is 6 strand

the color coding on new wiring is standard red, yellow, green, blue, white, black

The phone only needs 2 wires, so the others are extra. The red and green are the two used with that color scheme, and blue and white (possibly with stripes of the other color) is a newer color scheme. If you have a mixture, they are connected as green to white and red to blue.

If its just a "Phone-Line" that the jack is used for then it doesn't matter if its a 6 pair strand...you only need to use the blue/blue&white pair. The jack should have the color codes for each strand. Good Luck.
