If your friends are wine snobs, try this, its amazing and hilarious and affordable all once. Wait till late at night so you are not embarrassed and go to your local rite aid or grocery store. Buy the large glass jug from Rossi called SANGRIA, dont get another flavor jug because they are nasty, but when you serve this everyone will be like, "what is this? its so good!" And when you show them the 10 dollar 3 liter bottle, it will be priceless. I recommend most sangrias as they are sweet and smooth, but with a high alcohol content (There's even a tasty one in a box, gasp!). The other pinch-hitter at a good price is Lambrusco from Riunite, also a red with a slight sparkle. Just don't let people see the bottle when you serve it, and they will enjoy it so much more.

I definitely like a 'red' wine better than white. I tend to lean to a wine that smells of berries and mocha. Right now my fav is a red "feasting wine' by Bennett Lane. It's a 2003 called Maximus....soooooooooooooooooo yummy!

Clos du Bois makes a very nice Fume Blanc! It's light and a little fruity without being obnoxiously sweet.

Depends on if you drink it by itself or with food.
Some inexpensive reds are:
- Barrel 27 (CA syrah)
- Two Hands Sophie’s Garden (Australian shiraz)
- Black Mountain "Fat Cat" Cab from Trader Joes
- most melots
