Did a "gynocologist" test Mary to see if she was really a "Virgin" or did everyone just take her word for it?

The Hebrew word "alma" (meaning a young woman) was intentionally misrepresented by early Christian authors to make his mother a virgin - which was a popular idea among mythological deities at the time. However, the messiah foretold in the OT was supposed to be a human, born of normal human parents.

In the same way that in the English language the words “young woman” have no bearing on whether virginity is present or not, in the Hebrew language there is no relationship between the words alma and virgin. On the contrary, it is usually a young woman who bears children. Had Isaiah wished to speak about a virgin birth, he would have used the word betulah not alma. Betulah is a common word in the Jewish scriptures, and can only mean “virgin.”

Logically, Mary and Joseph were normal people who had sex, and other children besides Yeshua.

Back in those days ,believe me ,there was the local Mid-wife,before anyone got married(although they may have been engaged since they were 8 or 9 yrs old)they were examined for their chastity, during this exam the Mid-wife and the mother or grandmother would give the" facts of life speech"etc.
In the book of Matthew it says that Joseph did not "know his wife"(have sex with his wife)until after Jesus was born. Now Jewish Law said that Mary would have to go thru a certain amount of days of purification after the birth(I think 30 days) and then offer a sacrifice(Luke says it was turtledoves which means they were poor or it would of been a larger animal)Then she could "know" her husband.Which she did because the Bible says Jesus had brothers and sisters(it mentions James,Joses,Jude and Simon plus sisters)an average working family of that day would have 5or 6 kids 1or 2 would usually die.Joseph, was a little miffed when he found out Mary was with child.Technically he could have taken her to the priests and had her stoned for adultery. But being the guy he was hewas just going to quietly divorce her and take off,but an Angel came to him and said "This is God's work don't be afraid to take her as your wife" So he did.Believe me you think the Taliban are bad in that day if Joseph had any inkling there was "Hanky-panky" going on,he would of been out of there. They were "Law" abiding Jews(That's the same reason Jesus would have never married Mary Magdelene, a Rabbi just couldn't do .She'd have to be a virgin, which was not unusual in that day especially when alot of folks married at 15 or 16)

since you seem to have no idea of the culture back then, yes, there is a great possiblility that she was :Tested" for virginity. She was in her teens and betrothed and that was as good as married. It also is known that Joseph put her away in private to save her from being stoned, so why would he put her in danger by having sex with her and then lie that it wasnt him? You are thinking of a long ago culture in modern day terms.

Yes, I do... smart-@$$. In those days, adulterers were stoned to death. It's a pretty good incentive for chastity. Also, gynocologists didn't exist in those days, and I wouldn't blame her for not wanting just anybody testing her truth on that matter.

After Jesus was born and they were married, they probably did it on a pretty regular basis. (Jesus had many brothers and sisters). Anyway, there's your answer.

Mary and Joseph did have sex.
Apparently they had it quite a few times, because Jesus had a number of half-brothers and sisters.
Matthew 13:54-56
Sex BEFORE Jesus, no.
Sex AFTER Jesus, yes.

I don't think that they had OB/GYN's back then. Joseph was quite a bit older than Mary was. For all we know he'd have needed Viagra, and it wasn't invented yet.

dogma covered this question. it said something like to believe Mary and Joseph never had sex is plain gullibility.

we only have the written word to go on. guess that requires faith. after jesus was born mary had other children, which of course means she and Joseph "Got Busy".
