Good point.

I never bought the argument that atheism is a religion. Basically that's just an argument to try and confuse and distort the 1st amendment, so that the religious right can get in and influence government and schools. To them the absence of a state sanctioned religion is a just another state sanctioned religion. Huh? Go figure.

Not terrible much. Both are examples of false generalizations followed by contentious statements, semantically (according to definition) false.

False generalization: "All men have religion." Proof of falseness:
A religion (by definition) requires at the very least that someone have principles. Men such as some ancestor worshipers, psychopaths, the unprincipled, the ignorant and brain damaged exist without principles. So not all men have religion.

Atheism is a a religion. Contentious statement because atheism is not monolithic. Certain branches of atheism do not acknowledge a deity, in order not to believe in it.

False generalization All men have a disease. Proof of falseness by definition you get healthy undiseased people.

Being disease free is a disease too. Contentious statement along the lines of life is a sexually transmitted disease. The only people who may be uneasy (diseased) about being disease free are hypochondriacs.

It is true that atheism could be called a religion, or a belief structure, which is really all a religion is. As for being disease free being a disease, life is a terminal condition, is it not?

None of us get out alive.

Disease free is a lack of a disease, not a disease, its called healthiness. Atheism is a lack of religion, thus making it no form of religion. 0 light is not called light, but is called dark. The words given can not be applied in the sense you suggest.

This analogy is a boit illogical. Religions are belief systems and Atheism is a belief system. However the absence of a disease is not a disease.

Or saying "religion is a disease... you are all sick!"

Atheism by definition is not a religion... most religious people are idiots so they will believe any propaganda pushed before them by their precious church.

religion -- a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices

Atheism is a belief system. An atheist BELIEVES that his/her views are correct.

disease -- a condition of the living animal or plant body or of one of its parts that impairs normal functioning and is typically manifested by distinguishing signs and symptoms

NO ONE is "disease-free". Who can determine that a person's body is without "impairment of normal functioning"?

Atheism is Non God. It is NOT a religion. Religion is someone worshiping something or someone. Atheists are Godless.

Well put! Some religious people try hard to make everyone religious. Obviously, when we look at the derivation of "atheism," we see that it means the absence of theism.
